Scripture of the Day

"Be wise in the days of your probation; strip yourselves of all uncleanness; ask not, that ye may consume it on your lusts, but ask with a firmness unshaken, that ye will yield to no temptation, but that ye will serve the true and living God." Mormon 9:28

This verse speaks to us all and helps us to know what WE must do in our day and age. We need to be wise with our time here, we only have one life and for most people the daily slogan of their life is yet sadly this "eat drink and be merry". This life is only a fraction of our eternal existence, we live after this, there is more to come than this life and what will happen after this life will largely be determined by what we do in this life NOW.
There is a divine purpose to this life and its not to be fooled away, to cast off and do whatever you feel like. But you can if you want to but the point here is that there is more to life, there is a reason why we are here. Shouldn't we understand that reason and purpose?
We need to be clean and not ask things that are contrary to the will of God. We should instead of asking for help to overcome temptations not to be consumed in our shallow desires for lust and corruption. Look around the world we live in is full of filth, anger, hatred, sin and despised from all of us. This place is not getting any better and it wont be until the coming of the Lord and Savior. It is more common and acceptable to lie, cheat, hate and hurt than it is to love, care, be honest, and respect someone. I remember saying to myself that I don't want to be like everyone else but the sad reality was that I was being like everyone else because everyone else was doing the exact same thing I was doing. In today's world there are less and less virtues, truths, and righteousness prevailing. How sad it is to see our world around us dwindle in unbelief in morals and a God that we knew so well before this life, who we loved and adore-yet now we esteem him not and reject him as did the people in Christs time did as he was judged and crucified.
